Hradec Králové is a city of hundreds of thousands full of greenery and lies at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers, only 100 km east of Prague. The town under the White Tower, one of the most important landmarks of the East Bohemian metropolis, boasts Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings (G. Santini, C. Lurago). Modern Czech architecture in the spirit of Art Nouveau and Functionalism is the work of world-famous architects Professor Jan Kotěra and his pupil Josef Gočár.
Hradec Králové is an important transport hub, home to many authorities, state institutions, banks and major industrial companies. The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Charles University and the important Faculty of Military Health of the University of Defense are located here.

From Hradec Králové you can take trips to the Giant Mountains, 65 km away, or to the Eagle Mountains, 40 km away.
